How to replace a Gen 5 dodge viper window regulator
2013 – 2017 Dodge Viper Window Regulator Replacement
Watch the video below to see an efficient removal and replacement of the window regulator with upgraded robust components.
How-to guide
Step 1: Door Panel Removal (The Easiest Viper Generation)
Access Screws: Pop out the two plastic covers on the door panel to reveal two T-25 screws.
Panel Detachment: Remove the screws, then carefully pop the door panel out from its clips.
Disconnects: * Slide out the small safety tether by pushing the edge in.
Rotate and pop out the mechanical door release cable.
Disconnect the electric door release and the window switch connectors.
Step 2: Teardown and Window Extraction
Speaker Removal: Remove the three 8mm bolts to take out the door speaker.
Alignment for Removal: Before disconnecting the motor, adjust the window height so the two mounting bolts align with the access holes in the door frame.
Front Pin: Reach through the speaker hole to pull the pin holding the front of the window to the regulator.
Rear Bolts: Roll the window up to access the two rear mounting bolts. Pro Tip: Use a magnetic 10mm socket to prevent dropping bolts into the door cavity.
Glass Removal: Pry the window from the regulator by hand and lift the glass up and out of the door.
Step 3: Regulator and Motor Removal
Bracket Removal: Use a T-25 to remove the four screws holding the interior support bracket.
Hardware: * Remove the two nuts for the rear regulator track.
Remove the three nuts securing the motor.
Remove the two nuts for the front regulator track.
Stud Management: If the mounting studs come out with the nuts, use a 3mm Allen Key or a stud remover (or two jammed 6x1mm nuts) to separate them on the bench before reinstallation.
Extraction: Carefully slide the entire assembly forward and maneuver it out, being mindful of the internal cables.
Step 4: Installation of Upgraded Regulator
The Upgrade: Havik utilizes robust regulators (from Power Window Repair) with strengthened cable points to prevent common plastic failure.
Positioning: Maneuver the new assembly into the door. Start by getting the front track in, followed by the motor and back track.
Securing: Hand-tighten all nuts for the motor and tracks before a final snug down to ensure proper alignment.
Window Install: Drop the glass back in. Start by angling the front mount into the track through the speaker hole. Note: Check your window bosses; if they are worn, replace them now.
Step 5: Reassembly and Window Relearn
Panel Prep: Ensure all metal clips and plastic pins are correctly seated in the door, not stuck in the bracket.
Connections: Reconnect the tether, door cable, window switch, and electronic release. Snap the panel into place.
Relearn Procedure (Critical Step):
Roll the window down manually (do NOT use auto-down) and hold the switch down for 5 seconds.
Roll the window up manually (do NOT use auto-up) and hold the switch up for 5 seconds.
Note: Ensure you are not clicking the switch into the "Auto" detent during this hold, or it will not take. You may need to repeat this multiple times.
